Sumida City Gymnasium

• Groups of 5 members or more may register as a group. Members must be older than elementary school age.
• Where half or more of a group’s members are residents of Sumida Ward, they may register as a Resident Group. Residents are defined as either residing, working or studying within Sumida Ward. Resident Groups are permitted to enter the reservation lottery as detailed below.
• To register, just fill in the following forms and have the Group Representative bring them to the Registration Office of the Gymnasium.

• Group Registration Application Form
• Group Registration Name List

The Group Representative must produce personal identification confirming their contact details and current address (Driver’s License, Resident Card or Resident Registry Card are permissible). Other relevant proof of qualifications should also be shown when registering as a Resident Group (original or copies of Driver’s License, Health Insurance Card or other identification noting details of address and name are permissible).

• Resident Group Representative’s must be aged 20 years or over and registration must be completed in this person’s name.
• Upon completion of registration, a Registration Card will be issued.
• Group Registration must be renewed every three years with the first year of registration is already included
  (for example, if a group registers in November 2009, they will be requested to renew their registration at the end of March, 2012).

• Reservations can be made via the internet (either from a computer or cellular phone). Reservations will be received between 9:00-24:00.
• Please note that reservation application times differ for Resident Groups and Non-resident Groups.

• Resident Groups may make a reservation 4 months prior to their preferred date between the 15th - 25th.
• In the case where a double-booking has been made for the same reserved date and time, a machine-generated lottery will decide the winning group.
• Results of the lottery will be announced 3 months prior on the 1st (and on January 4th) via the Reservation System (found on our website). For those groups having previously registered an email address, we will also send out the results via email.
• Groups are permitted to enter the lottery 8 times a month for use of all facilities within the Gymnasium.
• 1 entry per group only.
  (For example: If 2 or more groups were to make a reservation for the Main Arena for the same day and time, they are not permitted to also request use of the 1/3 sized Arena).

• The Group chosen from the lottery is requested to make their payment by the 8th of each month (or January 11th).
  

• Payment may be made using either of the following methods:
• The Pay-easy System
• Cash or credit card (please come directly to the Registration Office at the General Reception of the General Purpose Gymnasium after its official opening).

(Please note in cases where payment is not made by the specified deadline, reservations will be automatically deemed as cancelled).

• Reservations for vacant facilities after the lottery will be taken 3 months prior to the day of use from 9:00 of the 1st day of that month (only after results of the lottery are released).
• Reservations for vacant facilities may be made by Resident Groups and Non-resident Groups alike on a first-come basis.
• Please refer to the aforementioned Point 4 for method of payment for use of the facilities. Payment is required 8 days prior to the day of use (where the day of use is included in this 8 day period).
• Internet reservations may be made up to four days prior to the proposed day of use. Following reservation, payment can be made directly at the Registration Office (at the General Reception of the General Purpose Gymnasium after its official opening). When reservations are made between 4-8 days before the proposed day of use, payment should be made any time up until the day before use.

• For cancellations of entry into the lottery, please contact us at any time up until the day before the lottery (lotteries are held on the 1st of every month or January 4th).
• For cancellations of reservations where payment has already been made, the Group Representative is required to come directly to the Reservation Office (at the General Reception of the General Purpose Gymnasium after its official opening) with their Group Registration Card and personal identification for confirmation of personal details. Refund of payment will be made the following day into a nominated bank account upon confirmation of the Group Registration Card and personal details of the Group Representative.
• Refund of payment will be made as per follows:
• 100% of payment fee will be refunded if cancellation is made 14 days prior to the day of use
• 50% of payment fee will be refunded if cancellation is made 7 days prior to the day of use
• Payment will not be refunded if cancellation is made 6 or less days prior to the day of use

• Please present your Registration Card to the General Reception.

※Please note that you may not be able to use the facilities if a Registration Card is not presented.

• As a rule, it is the responsibility of users of the Gymnasium to set up and clear away goals, nets and other necessary equipment.
• The General Purpose Gymnasium has a range of audio equipment for use (including microphones and mobile amp’s). The audio equipment may also be loaned at a small fee for use in the whole area of the Sub Arena, Martial Arts Area and half area of the Martial Arts Area. Please enquire at the Gymnasium for use of the equipment and note that equipment is limited in number and may not be available at all times. Furthermore, audio equipment may be brought in for use in the half area only.
• The Main Arena is equipped with 2 pairs of basket goals and the Sub Arena with 1 pair. The Main Arena also contains 2 courts for basketball play. In the case where a pair of goals has already been reserved, it may be possible to use the Main Arena’s Basketball through reservation. Reserve your equipment via the internet and be sure to make your booking either with or without goals.
• 1 pair of futsal goals can be found in the Main Arena and 1 pair in the Sub Arena. The Main Arena is also equipped with 1 pair of goals for Handball, and all goals have dual function.
• As a rule, we are not able to loan out such equipment as balls or rackets. Users of the Gymnasium are required to bring their own equipment.
• Any intentional or accidental damage incurred to the Gymnasium will require reimbursement.
• Futsal in the Arena may be played in the evening between 9:00-22:30 only, or otherwise during other times on the Rooftop.
• Any resin use for handball is strictly prohibited.
• In cases where Gymnasium rules are not followed, hours of use are not respected or trouble is caused to other Gymnasium patrons, subsequent use of the Gymnasium may be denied. Users of the Gymnasium are expected to respect the manners of the Gymnasium and its other patrons. Your cooperation is appreciated.
• Individuals are responsible for the keeping of their valuables. Lockers are available at General Reception inside the Gymnasium.
• Those under the influence of alcoholare not permitted entrance.
• The entire grounds are completely non-smoking.
• Shoes that may damage the surface of the floors are not permitted (leather shoes or heels).
